Know when
to water.
Real soil data and clear, plain-language irrigation guidance — no internet, no guesswork, no expensive rig.
✓ Free for pilot farms ✓ No internet needed ✓ Setup under 5 min
From soil to decision
in three steps
Push the sensors in
Place the Hub and CropBands directly in your soil — no wiring, no calibration. They start reading moisture, temperature, and humidity right away.
It does the thinking
The CropBands send their readings to the Hub wirelessly, and the Hub works out what each zone needs — all on the device, with no internet connection.
Check your phone
Connect to the Hub's WiFi, open your browser, and see every zone at a glance. No app to install, no account to create.
Built for real farms,
not labs
Two rugged components. No router, no cloud, no technical setup.
The brain of the system. It reads your soil's moisture, temperature, and humidity, then runs the whole dashboard from its own WiFi — no router or signal needed. Battery powered, built for the field. Self-calibration is on the way.
Wireless probes that report back to the Hub on their own — no router required. A few cover a zone today, and the network is built to scale to 20–25 per acre.
Answers, not data
Most precision ag tools show you charts. AgriScan shows you decisions. Open your phone browser, see your zones, and know exactly what to do.
- Zone-by-zone health map with color status
- Plain-language explanations for every recommendation
- Three levels: Quick View, Standard, Detailed
- Loads in under 2 seconds on any phone
Precision agriculture
shouldn't cost $5,000
2.5 billion smallholder farmers make irrigation decisions by feel every single day.
Existing tools cost $400–$5,000+, require internet, and assume technical literacy most farmers don't have. AgriScan was built by Unity Provisions and is now operated as an independent LLC to close that gap.
We believe the technology to save water and improve yields should be accessible to every farmer — not just commercial operations.
From community gardens
to commercial farms
Smallholder Farmers
Stop guessing. Get clear, trustworthy “water now or wait” guidance — no expensive rig, no internet, no training required.
Community Gardens
One Hub covers shared plots, so every gardener sees the same soil data without buying their own equipment.
Researchers & Extension
Export detailed soil-moisture logs to validate irrigation models with real field measurements.
Common questions
Does AgriScan need internet to work?
No. The entire system operates offline. The Hub creates its own WiFi hotspot. You connect your phone to that network and access the dashboard in your browser. No cellular signal, no router, no cloud.
How is this different from CropX or Farm21?
Those platforms serve commercial agriculture at $400–$5,000+ per farm. They require internet connectivity and technical literacy. AgriScan is built for smallholder farmers: it's free to pilot users, works fully offline, and requires zero training.
What does it measure?
Soil moisture (capacitive), soil temperature, and air humidity. The physics engine uses these readings alongside crop type and soil type to calculate irrigation recommendations using van Genuchten soil water balance equations.
How do I read the dashboard?
Each zone shows one of three statuses: Water Now (irrigate soon), Monitor (keep an eye on it), or OK (no action needed). You don't need to interpret graphs or data — just read the recommendation.
Is this really free?
Yes. Phase 2 pilot systems will be provided at no cost to participating Massachusetts farms and community gardens, backed by Unity Provisions, our nonprofit parent. Long-term, the hardware designs will be open-sourced so anyone can build their own.
How can I support the project?
We're looking for pilot partners (farms and gardens), technical contributors, and funders. Reach out through the form below or email agriscan.info@unityprovisions.org.
